AICTE-ISTE Induction-Refresher Programme on 02-11-2020 to 07-11-2020

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, SRM Valliamami Engineering College has successfully conducted AICTE-ISTE sponsored Induction/Refresher Programme on “Recent advancements in High Voltage Engineering” in online mode from 02.11.2020 to 07.11.2020. The Induction programme addressed the various topics related to advancements in High Voltage Engineering. This event was aimed for faculty members in the field of Electrical and Electronics Engineering in colleges. There were 49 participants registered for this programme of which 33 externals participants and 16 internal participants who have attended and were benefited by this event. This refreshment programme was organized with a view to make the participants aware about various topics related to field of High voltage Engineering.

Dr.K.Elango, Head of EEE department, SRM Valliammai Engineering College and Convener of the Programme RHVE 2K20 began the Inaugural function and Dr.R.Karthik, Coordinator RHVE 2K20, Department of EEE, SRM Valliammai Engineering College delivered the welcome address. He gave introductory note about the purpose and objective of the event. Chief Guest Dr. M.Raju, Senior Engineering Manager, L&T Power Transmission & Distribution gave the Inaugural Address. Mr.M.Kamalakannan, Assistant Professor, Department of EEE, SRM Valliammai Engineering College gave the vote of thanks.

TECHNICAL SESSIONS:

Day 1 (02/11/2020) -Session I: Dr.M.Raju, Senior Engineering Manager, L&T Power Transmission & Distribution, delivered a lecture on Design aspects on UHV Engineering. He discussed about various trends of Power grid set up in country.

Day 1 (02/11/2020) -Session II: Dr.R.V.Maheswari, Professor-EEE, National Engineering College, Kovilpatti delivered a lecture on Partial Discharge: Standards, Measurement Techniques & Interpretation. She gave a broad idea about basics of PD and their effects on insulation system.

Day 1 (02/11/2020) -Session III: Dr.A.Rathinam, Professor-EEE, SRMIST, delivered a lecture on Optimization in Electrical Engineering. He discussed about the various PSO method of Optimization and their applications towards Electrical Engineering.

Day 2 (03/11/2020) - Session I: Mr.S.Balaji, Assistant Professor-EEE, SRM VEC, delivered a lecture on High Voltage AIS substation Design. He gave brief idea about design and components of substations.

Day 2 (03/11/2020) - Session II: Mr.T.Santhoshkumar, Assistant Professor-EEE, SRM VEC, delivered a lecture on Recent Developments in High Voltage Transmission system. He discussed about the AC and HVDC transmission systems with respect to technical and cost.

Day 2 (03/11/2020) - Session III: Dr.S.Sudalai shunmugam, Assocaite Professor-EEE, BNM Institute of Technology, Bengaluru delivered a lecture on Research Perspectives and Overview of Outdoor Insulation studies. He discussed about the trends of Insulation system and their testing.

Day 3 (04/11/2020) -Session I: Mr.Prakash Mahendran, HVS R&D (CHT), GE, Chennai delivered a lecture on Diagnostics and High Voltage Testing of Electrical assets. He discussed about the trends of condition monitoring of electrical assets.

Day 3 (04/11/2020)-Session II: Dr.S.Arivalahan, Associate Professor-EEE, SRM VEC, delivered a lecture on HV Equipment’s analysis using AI controllers. He discussed about the controllers and their roles in HV systems.

Day 3 (04/11/2020) -Session III: Dr.S.Venkatesh, Associate Professor-EEE, VIT Vellore, delivered a lecture on Role of Climate Change & its Significance on Lightning Protection Requirements of critical applications-Challenges & Opportunities. He discussed about the various lightning protection system and their models.

Day 4 (05/11/2020) -Session I: Dr.M.Srinivasan, Assistant Professor-EEE, Kongu Engineering College delivered a lecture on Recent trends in Liquid insulation system. He discussed about the various liquid insulation monitoring systems.

Day 4 (05/11/2020) -Session II: Ms. S.Vanila, Assistant Professor-EEE, SRM VEC, delivered a lecture on Wavelet Transform approach to Power system Transient analysis. She discussed about the wavelet methods and their applications to transient issues.

Day 4 (05/11/2020)-Session III: Dr. S. Albert Alexander, Associate Professor-EEE, Kongu Engineering College delivered a lecture on AI based techniques for solving the issues in High Voltage Engineering. He discussed about the various AI methods and their implementation towards HVE.

Day 5 (06/11/2020) -Session I: Dr.K.Sathishkumar, Associate Professor-EEE, VIT Vellore, delivered a lecture on Novel Hybrid Polymer Nanocomposites for High Voltage XLPE Cable Applications. He discussed about the nano materials applications to XLPE cables.

Day 5 (06/11/2020) - Session II: Dr.S.Malathi, Assistant Professor-EEE, SRM VEC, delivered a lecture on Enhancement of Hybrid Bipolar HVDC Systems. She discussed about the HVDC transmission systems and converters used.

Day 5 (06/11/2020) - Session III: Dr. M.Anbuchezhiyan, Associate Professor-Physics, SRM VEC delivered a lecture on Dielectrics: Properties and Applications. He discussed about the fundamentals of Dielectric materials and nano dielectrics.

Day 5 (06/11/2020) - Session IV: Mr.M.Kamalakannan, Assistant Professor-EEE, SRM VEC, delivered a lecture on High Voltage Apparatus-Design, Construction and Commissioning. He discussed about the modelling of HV apparatus using latest software tools.

Day 6 (07/11/2020) - Session I: Ms.L.Jaya Copppisetty, Psychologist & Life coach Hyderabad delivered a lecture on Stress Management. She discussed about the various methods of stress management, job ethics and improvement of life style focusing FIT India.

Day 6 (07/11/2020) - Session II: Mr.S.Padhmanabha Iyappan Assistant Professor-EEE, SRM VEC delivered a lecture on Introduction to High Voltage Technology and Insulation testing. He discussed about the various technology pertained to HVE.

Day 6 (07/11/2020) - Session III: Dr.K.Krishna Moorthi Associate Professor-EEE Sona College of Technology delivered a lecture on Testing of Insulators. He discussed about the various methods of testing normal and polluted insulators.

Day 6 (07/11/2020) - Session IV: ONLINE FEED BACK & ONLINE TEST were conducted for the participants. All the participant has actively participated in all the session and completed online assessment test with good score.
