The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering of SRM Valliammai Engineering College has conducted Six days Faculty Development Programme on the of “Soft Computing Techniques for Electro Magnetic Field and Power Converters”from19th December to 24th December 2022 in the EEE Department Seminar Hall. In the Faculty Development Programme, the Five resource persons has delivered the presentation. In First day, the session was presented by Dr. R. Rajarajeswari, Assistant Professor/EEE, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai. She delivered lecture about the Sources and effects of electromagnetic fields – Coordinate Systems – Vector fields – Gradient, Divergence, Curl – theorems and applications - Coulomb’sLaw–Electric field intensity – Field due to discrete and continuous charges – Gauss’s law and applications. The Second day the session presented by Dr. K. R. Shanmuga Vadivu, Assistant Professor/EEE, B. S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science & Technology.She delivered lecture about the Electric potential – Electric field andequipotentialplots, UniformandNon-Uniform field, Utilization factor – Electric field in free space, conductors, dielectrics - Dielectric polarization–Dielectric strength- Electric field in multiple dielectrics – Boundary conditions, Poisson’sandLaplace’sequations, Capacitance, Energy density, Applications. The Third day the session presented by Dr. T. Porselvi, Professor/EEE, Sri Sairam Engineering College, Chennai.She delivered lecture about the Multi-level Inversion – concept, classification of multilevel inverters, Principle of operation, main features and analysis of Diode clamped, Flying capacitor and cascaded multilevel inverters; Modulation schemes. The Fourth day the session presented byDr. P. Abirami, Assistant Professor /EEE, B.S.Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science & Technology.She delivered lecture about the Switched mode AC-DC converters. Synchronous rectification-single and three phase topologies – switching techniques – high input power factor. reduced input current harmonic distortion. Improved efficiency. With and without input-output isolation. Performance indices design examples-PWMRectifiers, Power factor improvement techniques. The Fifth day the session presented by Dr. A. Rathinam, Professor /EEE, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai. He delivered lecture about the Modelling of non-linear systems using ANN – Generation of training data – Optimal architecture– Model validation – Control of non-linear systems using ANN – Direct and indirect neuro control schemes – Adaptive neuro controller – Familiarization with neural network toolbox. The Sixth day of FDP, We Visited the Vendhar TV, No.35, Ground Floor, North Phase, Kalaimagal Nagar, 3rd Main Road, Ekkattuthangal, Chennai-600032 as an Industrial Visit. The Sessions were completed and the coordinators of the event conveyed thanks to Experts and Participants. The Staff Members interacted with the Experts very much and also cleared their doubts. The Participants of Teaching Faculties found the sessions very informative, motivate and they also had exposure to research activities and its importance.
