International Guest Lecture on 10-09-2020

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering of SRM Valliammai Engineering College has conducted International Guest Lecture on the topic of “SCADA Systems and Smart Grid Vision” on 10th September 2020 Through the MS Team (Online Mode) for  EEE students. The session was presented by the resource person Mr.S.Sornakanth, B.E., (Alumni), Electrical Estimation Engineer, Al Safar United, UAE who conveyed the basic introduction of Power System Networks. He discussed general definitions and terminologies related to Electrical Network Estimation for the industrial and commercial buildings. He has explained about fundamentals of SCADA Architecture, modes of operations, addressing modes and Data acquisition and manipulation. He had given brief explanation of SCADA System operation in various fields like public Transport, Commercial buildings, Airports and in Ports. He had shared his working Experience about the Smart Grid Technologies using IOT Systems in the Electrical network. He also discussed about the opportunities for Electrical Engineers in various sectors and requirements of Essential Skill sets for the budding Electrical Engineers. At the end of the session the students interacted with the resource person and he has cleared their doubts. The participants found that the International Guest Lecture was very informative and also had exposure to SCADA and Smart Grid technologies and its importance.
