The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering organized a “Seminar on Solar Power Satellites and Microwave Power Transmission” in association with Renewable Energy Club, IEEE SRM Valliammai Student Branch, Institution’s Innovation Council, ISTE Faculty Chapter & ISTE Student Chapter on 17.04.2023, for the benefit of students and faculties of EEE department.
The event started with welcome address delivered by Ms.B.Nikitha of II year EEE, Ms. P. Lakshya of II year EEE presented the Department achievements of academic year 2022-23 and Mr.K.Vasanthan of III year EEE introduced the resource person. The Resource person Ms.R.Sreeja, Communication Systems Engineer, Research and Development, Space Machines Company, Bengaluru delivered the lecture on the concept of Solar Power Satellites and Microwave Power Transmission. The Seminar focused on recent research on solar power satellite (SPS), converts the sun's energy into electricity in space and transmits it to Earth using microwave power transmission. Finally, she discussed about the current status and major challenges of Solar power satellites and microwave power transmission in India. At the end of the session the resource person shown a demo of solar power satellite to the students and interacted with the students and cleared their doubts. The participants found that the Seminar was very informative. Around 78 students and 16 faculties of EEE attended the seminar. Ms. Shivangi Sharma, II year EEE delivered the Vote of thanks and thanked the resource person for accepting the invitation.
